Who's Number 1?!

Above is Tyrann Mathieu, nicknamed the honey badger because it is the most feared creature in the animal kindom, is also the most feared defensive player in college football and a Heisman frontrunner so far this season.  He plays for ARGUABLY the best team in college football right now, LSU.  The word arguably is so important because right now in college football there is a great debate between LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma as to who is the best team in all the land.  LSU and Alabama are so talented on the defensive side of the ball that the Rams and Colts would have trouble scoring on them and Oklahoma's offense is second to none.  It gets so tricky with anaylsts, commentators and even fans on message boards debating who deserves the top spot.  Where this story gets weird and intriguing is that the main college football polls can not even decide.  The writers that vote feel that LSU is the best team, the coaches that vote feel that Oklahoma is the best team and the computers who interpret all the results (must be fun watching the games as a computer) feel that Alabama is the best team.

College football is the only division 1 sport that does not have a playoff system to end the year which makes this argument even more important.  What a great idea it is to not to have a playoff system by the way.  I mean those lousy playoffs always get in the way of the that great, drwan out, too long regular season.  I mean how great would it be if the NFL, MLB and college basketball got rid of their playoff systems.  Its not like any one cares about them anyway.  But back to the subject on hand, this year these three teams should sort themselves out because LSU travels to Alabama on November 5 for easily the biggest game of the year.  The winner will remained undefeated and most likely meet an undefeated Oklahoma (because they play in the Big 12 where some high school teams could compete) in the National Championship game on January 8.  Until these heavyweights settle it out on the field, sports fans, lets the debating continue!
