The sexiest NFL story of the past few weeks and a potential Super Bowl preview was the undefeated Buffalo Bills and the undefeated Detroit Lions. That all changed this Sunday when the Bills lost to the lowly Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 after blowing a ten point halftime lead. The Bills were all ready to be the only AFC team undefeated at 4-0 but could not close in the second half. This leads to the conclusion that they are frauds. To take a quick look at their first three games before their resent lose proves that they were flukes. In week 1 they beat the Kansas City Chiefs who are competing for the first round pick in next year's draft. In Week 2 they needed a last second touchdown from a journey man tight end named Scott Chandler to beat an average Oakland Raiders team at home. Lastly, the bandwagon was popular after a week 3 win against the dominant New England Patriots. However, they were down 21-0 in the first quarter and the Patriots let their guard down. It also took 4 interceptions from one of the best quarterbacks in football Tom Brady just to escape with a narrow home victory. Expect the Bills to come back to earth in the recent weeks and the playoffs starting with the Bills just watching on their couches.
The Detroit Lions on the other hand are for real. This is not only a team that is a legit playoff contender but a Super Bowl caliber team as well. They are now 4-0 after their come from behind 34-30 over the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday. Other than the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers the Lions have the best record in football. They have won 12 straight games dating back to last season and this season's preseason. Their offense is incredible this year with quarterback Mathew Stafford vying for an MVP and wide receiver Calvin Johnson also known as "megatron" is becoming the top play maker in the game. Even this past Sunday when their offense was not clicking their defense came up with two defense touchdowns to lead the comeback. First round draft pick Nick Fairly, a defensive lineman who is considered to be a future pro bowler is also hurt and expected back with in the next few weeks. In other words look out America the Lions can play!
